Minnesota’s Legacy Amendment raises revenue for Clean Water, Outdoor Heritage, Parks and Trails, and Arts and Cultural Heritage. Libraries are beneficiaries of a portion of the Arts and Cultural Heritage Funding.

Improve ecological restoration success in Minnesota by developing and offering a training program for restoration professionals. Training opportunities will include courses and webinars covering planning, implementation and monitoring restorations.

Heartland Democracy will partner with Commonbond’s Skyline Tower’s Teen Program to engage a cohort of teenagers who are primarily Somali- and Ethiopian-American in the Empowering U program—discovering their own motivation to engage in civic affairs, along with the tools to do so.

Martin County has 149 lakes and several are impacted by elevated phosphorus levels. Restoring the water quality of these lakes is a priority for county. In partnership with Minnesota Waters, Barr Engineering and the University of Minnesota Extension, this project specifically aims to educate residents about the threats to Martin County water resources.

The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota (CMSM) will conduct a transformative community involvement project centered on the public exhibit prototyping laboratory. The Legacy grant will allow CMSM to reach a broader audience resulting in the development of museum experiences that engage every child’s natural curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.

This proposal will preserve farmland and forest land through the state’s “Green Acres” law; and develop statewide policy and zoning tools to preserve agricultural lands, especially in the metro region.
