Van Horn/Zumbrota Library Mural & Presentation Program implemented two mural projects, one at the Van Horn Public Library of Pine Island and the other at the Zumbrota Public Library (Zumbrota, MN).

Wildflowers of Shooting Star Scenic Byway by Prairie Visions (LeRoy, MN) created a brochure featuring more than 60 wildflowers found along the Shooting Star bike trail. Accompanying the launch of the brochure, an introduction was given to 5th & 6th grade students for the LeRoy-Ostrander Public School along with a fieldtrip to view some of the flowers.

Winona Reads! was a program designed to promote reading and literature through the experience of the community reading and discussing the same book at the same time and organized by the Winona Public Library (Winona, MN). The community read The Turtle Catcher by Minnesota author Nicol Helget and had three public discussions. The project concluded with a visit from the author.

World Film Series @ Your Library is ongoing and had not reached completion by either the end of the fiscal year or the due date of this report. It is a multi-cultural film series consisting of five film showings a month over a period of ten months at the Owatonna Public Library (Owatonna, MN) and their branch library in Blooming Prairie.

“Big Brother has Wheels” by author Patrick Mader had Mader present a multi-generational program centered on his books for the Stewartville Public Library (Stewartville, MN). The presentation included enlarged illustrations, a PowerPoint presentation, and hands-on materials for children.

"Mike the Baker” by Mike Mann – Celebration for the Week of the Young Child & Child Abuse Prevention Month was organized by the Dodge County Licensed Child Care Association (Dodge Center, MN) to have Mike Mann as Mike the Baker put on a presentation about early literacy.

The Art & Culture Live!: Vetted Programs were created by request of the SELCO public library directors and intended to involve less staff time dedicated to individual programming plans. Library staff expressed a desire for a simpler, “turnkey” program approach that they could easily implement and manage for their communities.

Hans Mayer’s ear-tickling, infections music captures the tales of real-life childhood and brings it all back to life with an irresistible sense of humor. Hans’ mellow voice and accomplished playing add to the musical feast.

Older adult residents of Twin-Cities area care centers participate in a three-day arts residency. This two-year collaboration is most likely the only opportunity this audience has to participate in activities funded through Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. MELSA library systems referred care centers where libraries have outreach relationships or a desire to establish relationships.

East Central Regional Library sponsored a bus trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) exhibition “Art in Bloom”. The Art in Bloom exhibit entailed floral artists displaying flower art that was inspired by an original artwork displayed in the Museum. Two bus loads were taken to the Institute picking up community members on the west side and east side of the region respectively.

KSRQ will partner with Thief River Falls Public Library to present a free day of music, dance, visual arts, crafts, and food at Floyd B. Olson Park in Thief River Falls. KSRQ will partner with Campbell Library in East Grand Forks for a similar event at Sherlock Park. Music and interviews from the events will be featured on the air and on KSRQ's website.
