Our goal is to expose as many people of all ages as possible to good literature. The workshop and community reading projects are designed to broaden the base of people that are involved. Tying in the theme with Sioux land and the prairie will work to bring the focus of arts to nature lovers. Our overall goal is to educate all people in Rock County and the surrounding communities about the legacy and impact of the Great American Author Frederick Manfred. The multi-pronged, multi-generational approach we have developed is meant to touch all peoples' lives. Visual art, dramatic art, literature and nature appeal to a broad base of people. The goal of the Blue Mound Writers Series is to expose the public to talented writers and hear them read their work. The larger community will benefit by enriching the lives of friends and neighbors in fine arts. They will also benefit from hearing and seeing throughout the community about writing and Sioux land. The community will benefit by greater appreciation of where we are from and the great impact of Frederick Manfred.Reading Rocks the County: the public will be asked to submit an evaluation form at the end of the reading project; school educators will be surveyed following the event to ask for comments and suggestions on reading materials and student's reaction to the project. Manfred at the Palace: we will gauge the success of the project by the number of people who come to the event; these individuals will be asked to respond to a written survey. Manfred Birthday Celebration evening of readings by 6 selected authors: evaluation through written comments of readers and commentators. Remember Manfred: we will ask all visitors to the exhibit at the Rock County Fair to sign the guest book and comment on what they learned about Manfred or Sioux land. Blue Mound Writers Series: we will measure the success of the project by the number of people attending and the written evaluation of the artists involved in the projects (including winners of the writing contests). Drawing and Photography Workshops: written evaluations will be done by the participants and teachers; artistic evaluation will be done with the drawings at the exhibit held in conjunction with the Manfred exhibit in July; evaluation of the photography workshop will be done through written evaluations by the teachers and students; artistic evaluation of student's training will be done by the judges at the photo contest.
