To provide three acting/filmmaking workshop series for 36 at-risk youth and their mentors, and to create six short films for public broadcasting. The success of the primary outcome will be evaluated by actual attendance of the workshops and evidence of following through all commitments to finish the project by the Big Brothers Big Sisters participants. 2: To increase the likelihood for Big Brothers Big Sisters youth to participate in acting training and future filmmaking arts endeavors. The success of the secondary outcome will be evaluated by pre- and post- workshop evaluation surveys that will ask the participants about their attitudes and interest in acting and filmmaking endeavors.
We achieved our goal of serving 36 unduplicated youth and their mentors. The child-adult matches participated in workshops and final film production. The final product was four different silent films (total run time over 60 minutes) and two films featuring interviews with Big Brothers Big Sisters matches. 2: The secondary outcome of this project was to increase the likelihood of Big Brothers Big Sisters youth to participate in acting training and future filmmaking arts endeavors. The success was measured by pre- and post-evaluation surveys. Before the workshops only 30% participants strongly agreed that they feel confident they will participate in future performance arts activities, 35% strongly agreed that they are generally interested in performing arts. After the workshops, 95% participants from the post-survey indicated that they would participate in performance arts/filmmaking activities in the future. At the final film screening, many participants inquired about the upcoming opportunities in acting/filmmaking.
