This project will result in a heightened awareness of performing arts in the community, an increase in access to the performing arts for community members, an increased perception among performing artists and audience members of the Baudette Depot as an important provider of local arts and culture. From an audience survey we will measure people’s awareness of the WoodPicks and their talents, an increased awareness of the Baudette Depot as a venue for the arts, and the appreciation of the opportunity to have arts events on a free-will basis. The target audiences of kids and teens, adults and older adults, as well as artists will be surveyed following the performance. We expect that the concert will be judged positively by 50% or more of those who attended. There will also be opportunities to take a good-time photo and have a conversation with the artists following the performance. Audience members will be invited to leave comments in the Depot guest book. Attendance numbers will be recorded and we expect a minimum of 200 audience members. Organizers will also get feedback from the artists on the venue, and the format and organization of the show.
Weather did not cooperate and instead of a concert on the lawn we had to squeeze guests into the Depot. It was not possible to do any kind of paper survey given the congestion of the guests. Oral feedback was collected instead. The consensus is that new people came to the Depot and saw its viability as an arts and culture venue that new people heard the WoodPicks for the first time, and a good time was had by all who attended.
