Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Arts learning opportunities are more accessible to Minnesota because barriers to participation have been identified and mitigated.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Children's Theatre Company made arts learning opportunities more accessible to 499 early learners and 318 adults during the grant period. Per the results of our evaluation by the Center for Early Education and Development, students in Early Bridges had significantly higher scores in several arts learning competencies related to storytelling, including vocal intonation, creativity, and retelling their story. Center for Early Education and Development evaluated these outcomes by videotaping students, transcribing the tapes, and coding the transcripts using research-based tools. The extent to which arts learning opportunities were made more accessible to teachers was also measured. For this outcome, Center for Early Education and Development looked at the degree to which teachers integrated theatre arts skills into their practices. Our results indicate that teachers showed some increases in the depth of their post-read-aloud activities, using Early Bridges strategies to ask relevant and analytical questions about the story.
