Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The goal of this program is to increase the quantity and types of arts learning opportunities for youth. Our goal dovetails perfectly with the Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council program goal to increase the quantity and types of arts learning opportunities for youth. For the past ten years we have successfully offered varying workshops for that very reason. Student involvement in the workshops has been steady at 80-100 per year. That, by itself, is an affirmation that we are meeting a need. In terms of hard numbers, we would look to serving 100 students from at least 10 of the schools in Region 3A. We have been slowly using this as the point of pressing the Minnesota State High School League to provide an expanded forum for display of student art. With the demise of the College of Visual Arts, the exhibit went to the Perpich Center. We continue to advocate for the Mall of America or the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. So far we have not met with success but we do continue to advocate using the participation and success of this event as a rationale for a large venue for great high school art. Art is the heART of a great education!

Measurable Outcome(s)

Numbers of schools: 8, Number of students: 72, Numbers of Presenter: 5, Number of Responses from the Minnesota State High School League: 0, Number of Westbrook-Walnut Grove Students who saw works on display: 140, Number who watched the online video: 36. I have visited with the Perpich Center's Jeff Pridie who thought it would be a good idea to improve the visibility of the Region Festival by relocating to a more public location.
