Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The goal of this program is to increase the quantity and types of arts learning opportunities for youth. Each field trip will include approximately 30-110 students. We plan to reach at least half of the students in our high school of 400. It is our goal to give students opportunities to participate in artistic and cultural events throughout the year. This funding would cover a large portion of the trips offered in 2013-2014. Specific goals for each teacher will be accessed by required expectations on the day of each trip. For example, the sketchbook assignment required when visiting the Minneapolis Institute of Arts museum or the competition requirements at the Jazz Festival. Lastly, we hope to see an increase in student enrollment. Students not participating in art classes are happy to join a field trip for a day. It has been our experience that field trips often lead to more students signing up for art courses as an elective the following year.

Measurable Outcome(s)

According to the Minnesota State High School Fine Arts Standards, we measured for performance review and reflection, understanding critique, and evaluating the fine arts. Actual outcomes ranked with rubrics mostly at the high end, but also included a variety of scores within a 1-4 range.
