At Spring Lake Park Reserve, prairie restoration at Schaar's Bluff Gathering Center campus to convert existing 50 acre monoculture grassland to diverse prairie/savanna, including ecological improvement of 1,500 feet of Mississippi River bluff edge.

$12,641,000 the first year and $15,140,000 the second year are from the parks and trails fund to be distributed as required under new Minnesota Statutes, section 85.535, subdivision 3, except that  of this amount, $40,000 the first year is for a grant to Hennepin County to plant trees along the Victory Memorial Parkway.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s) 

A minimum of 60 native prairie species will be planted along with oaks to reflect the site's eco-type as an oak savanna. 2013 report will report what is planted.
