KAXE - The Beat/Beat Café
The Beat/Beat Café: Radio poetry, read by poets in their own voices, airs every weekday morning, repeated in the afternoon. The Beat Café is a live broadcast stage performance. It includes selected poets and jazz.

Produced and aired a poem every weekday for the year, most of them in the artist’s own voice. Each poem received a repeat airing in the afternoon. We worked with two schools to produce poems by 31 school children. The annual Beat Café that was attended by 155 people, and received excellent local press, including a video by the Bemidji Pioneer (which received 1.4K Facebook impressions when Northern Community Radio shared it). Brian Laidlaw and the Family Trade provided music (and Brian provided poetry) for the Beat Café III. Other headliners included Sean Hill and St Paul poet/baker Danny Klecko.
