Project Overview

This collaboration uses QR codes already established on the Mankato/North Mankato Walking Sculpture Tour. It will offer an audio resource to enhance the web pages already existing for this ongoing project. Professionally recorded mp3’s will be available on each of the descriptive pages to allow visitors to hear an in-depth description and background about the sculpture and the artist who created it.

Arts, culture and history will be interwoven into every facet of community life: With Smart Phones as prolific as they are, this project will dovetail perfectly with tech-lifestyle residents of Minnesota.More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and incomes will participate in the arts, culture and history: While this project specifically targets Minnesotans with Smart Phones, any barriers to access to these devices are superseded by their ubiquity.People will trust Minnesota’s stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding: This project adds significant value to an existing Arts collaboration.Arts, culture and history will thrive in Minnesota: Making appreciation of the Arts convenient for more Minnesotans will inspire this outcome.More student exposure to professional performing arts, and the work of professional artists: Students of all ages will appreciate the ease of Art access thanks to this project.Increased potential for visual and literary artists in Minnesota to earn income from their art: The artists who create these sculptures will have a higher likelihood of selling their pieces because more Minnesotans will be aware of their art.More locally and Minnesota focused content: Some (not all) of the sculptures featured in the Walking Sculpture Tour are the creations of Minnesota artists.More local artists, historians, writers and other that have their work showcased through public broadcasting: Relating to the previous outcome, those Minnesota sculptors with pieces in the Tour will benefit from not only the technological enhancement, but also from on-air support from KMSU, encouraging visitors and residents to take advantage of the feature.How outcomes will be measured: -Attendance at events - Arbitron/Radio Research Consortium ratings information -Internet and Social media statistics
