Project Overview

This project works to reduce energy consumption and model renewable energy methods on state park, state recreation area, state forest and trail facilities. The DNR Parks and Trails Division is working to increase the use of energy conservation and renewable energy technologies.

About the Issue

Installing renewable energy and energy conservation projects at DNR park, forest and trail facilities provides a great opportunity to educate visitors, including many school groups, about renewable energy and energy conservation. Projects help meet state and DNR energy goals along with reducing operating costs.

(1)Connect people to the outdoors;
(2)Acquire land and create opportunities;
(3)Maintain existing holdings; and
