The goal of this project is to develop and complete the Watershed Restoration and Protection (WRAP) process and report, while also enlarging and sustaining a public participation process that encourages local ownership of water quality problems and solutions (civic engagement).
Continued TMDL project to support next phases associated with completion of TMDL's for ten lakes in the Carnelian Marine Saint Croix Watershed District (CMSCWD). Ten lakes are; East Boot, Fish, Goose, Hay, Jellum’s, Long, Loon, Louise, Mud and South Twin.
This project addresses the identified need for an Implementation Plan that provides an overall roadmap for the effort it will take to meet the Carnelian Marine St. Croix Multi-Lakes Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL).
This project involves monitoring Arcola Creek. Stewardship strategies were defined for long term protection for the creek as part of the District's Lower St. Croix River Spring Creek Stewardship Plan and Ten Year Comprehensive Water Management Plan. Water quality monitoring is necessary to gather appropriate data for assessment.
Carver County has completed a Fecal Coliform Total Maximum Daily Load(TMDL) and Implementation Plan (IP). These efforts define the concentrations and sources of fecal coliform bacteria polluting Carver, Bevens, and Silver Creeks, and the strategies to reduce fecal coliform concentrations to state standards.
This project will include lake and stream monitoring on 23 lakes and 4 streams found within the Leech Lake River and Pine River watersheds in Cass County. The project will be conducted in an effort to gain sufficient data on these data-deficient lake and stream sites within these watersheds. All of the proposed monitoring sites are target sites located in the targeted watersheds for 2012.
This monitoring project includes lake and stream monitoring and encompasses all of Cass County, and surrounding counties. The project will obtain water quality data for streams; in 2009, lakeshed assessments indicated that many surface waters throughout the county were data deficient.

The SWCD selected these two lakes because of their declining transparency readings, 25 interested landowners, 2 adjacent resorts, and the community support, past partnerships, valuable fisheries, high ratio of forested land, and low ratio of impervious area in the lakeshed.

Cedar and Farm Island are large recreational lakes located in the Aitkin/ Brainerd Lakes area. Both lakes are showing significant downward trends in water clarity.

To hire a qualified historic preservation specialist to assess potential impacts on and reuses for up to five buildings along the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit Line.
Lambert Creek discharges into Vadnais Lake, the final impoundment reservoir containing the potable water supply for the city of St. Paul and eight nearby suburbs. Monitoring data indicates high nutrient levels and the creek is listed by the State as having high bacterial levels. In-stream work along Lambert Creek has been maximized with restoration improvements achieving nutrient load reduction.
Locate areas where boreal tree species may persist in a warmer climate, assess whether temperate species can replace boreal species and whether invasive species may interfere with climate change adaptation.
This project will help to reduce turbidity in the impaired Le Sueur River and improve fisheries habitat by improving stream channel design and establishing floodplain benches and toe-slope protection using economical, natural materials on four eroding bluffs.

The MDA has partnered with the USDA National Agricultural Statistic Service (NASS) and University of Minnesota researchers to collect information about fertilizer use and farm management. Surveys are conducted over the phone. NASS staff are highly skilled at obtaining critical information over the phone with minimal time and burden on the producer.

The Chicano-Latino population in Minnesota has grown dramatically since 1980. The Minnesota Historical Society is partnering with the community to ensure their stories of arrival, settlement and adjustment to life in Minnesota are recorded and preserved for future generations. Minnesota Historical Society staff have completed interviews in Moorhead, Willmar and the Twin Cities and produced a published book for each narrator, totaling more than 1,300 pages of transcripts as well as a video project "Latino Business Leaders Defining Success." The interviews also serve as resources for teachers and students and will be available on the Society's website, "Becoming Minnesotan: Stories of Recent Immigrants and Refugees" education.mnhs.org/immigration.
