My career in outdoor recreation began in 1969 with the US Forest Service in the BWCA. After graduation from the U of M in spring of 1974 I began the development of the Taconite State Trail for DNR Parks. I transferred to the NE DNR Regional office for Trails and Waterways developing and operating State Trails, River Trails, Public Water Accesses, Trails in State Parks and Forests, Grant in Aid Trails and Lake Superior Harbors. We worked with agencies, communities, and user groups in every case to provide these opportunities. I served on several State and National committees and still maintain involvement with many of these partners after retirement as a lifelong career choice. Currently I serve on the Itasca County Park and Recreation Commission, the Itasca County Trails Task Force, The International Snowmobile Hall of Fame BOD, Greater Minnesota Parks and Trails Commission District 2, and other local community clubs. Now as a volunteer I am learning a lot.
