Patrick Stieg

Pat is an enthusiastic user of parks and trails year-round, all across Minnesota. He is currently in his fourth year of service with the Scott County parks advisory commission, following seven years on the parks and natural resources commission for the city of Savage. Scott County has a young and developing regional parks system, which operates through a successful co-management model with the Three Rivers Parks District.

Pat feels very fortunate to serve in roles which allows him to blend is personal interests in parks and trails, with his professional interests in public health. He believes there is tremendous potential to improve the public’s health through parks and trails. While working for the Dakota County Public Health Department he developed an alliance of the county parks department, along with all of the municipal parks departments in the county, to focus on the role that parks and recreation could play to improve public health. He currently works at the Center for Prevention with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.

He looks forward to contributing to the development and maintenance of a high quality state and regional parks and trails system, which can serve as a legacy for future generations of Minnesotans.
