Wayne retired from the Department of Natural Resources in 2011 after 34 years of state service, including 22 years as manager of the Local Grants Program. He previously worked on the state Wild and Scenic Rivers, Canoe and Boating Route and State Forest Planning programs among others and currently serves on the DNR's Water Trails Advisory Committee. He holds a Master’s Degree in Forestry and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Resource Management from the University of Minnesota. He was appointed to the committee by the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission, and serves on the Commission's Project Proposal Evaluation Team.
