Increasingly, people are turning to digital resources for answers to questions or as a starting point for research. The Encyclopedia of Minnesota History will be a new digital resource for the public from the Minnesota Historical Society. It will provide reliable, multimedia entries about people, places, events and things in Minnesota history. The Society launched the project in 2010 and developed a comprehensive plan, including surveying more than 60 local and national experts and evaluating 40 comparable digital resources. In 2011, the project team will develop a prototype that will test initial entries and technology, invite user feedback, inspire content partnerships and guide full web site implementation in 2012.
