KWCM - Pioneer Specials and Music Performance Production
The Pioneer Specials and Music Performance project includes two productions.
On Stage features local musicians performing in the historic Appleton Opera House. Musical performances or interviews from other venues may also be included. The segments focus primarily on solo and small ensemble performances in half-hour special broadcasts.
Grassland Jam started as a series of music specials in the past year, based on content recorded at the Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association festival in Stearns County. Pioneer intends to record or broadcast episodes of either or both of these programs in each year of the biennium. These music specials or series will include two hours or more of new content in each year of the biennium. Other music specials may be added during the biennium.
$3,700,000 the first year and $3,700,000 the second year are for grants to the Minnesota Public Television Association for production and acquisition grants according to Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.18.
Production and broadcast distribution of two or more music specials or series episodes under the titles of "On Stage," "Grassland Jam" or other titles to be determined, each year of the biennium, recorded in a historic performance hall or other venues. Posting of special production content to the station's web site for online video use, and promotion throughout the viewing area.
