Project Overview

Sophie, which made its premiere at Morris in April 2011, tells the story of a young girl who always dreamed of being a superhero. She finally gets the chance when she is magically transported to Ice Island, where she befriends a group of animals—a sassy polar bear, some silly penguins, and a hyper-active lemming, among others—in order to stop the evil Dark Figure from melting the island. In light of Morris’s efforts to be a green campus, the Sophie set and costumes were made from recycled and repurposed materials, making the production into a wonderful adventure that will awe, amuse, and empower. It will make its television debut on April 22, 2012 at 4 p.m.
