Decades of Hennepin County Health Care exhibit
An exhibit was created as a 13-part rotating display highlighting medical care in Minneapolis and Hennepin County from the 1870's to the present. It was first shown at the Hennepin County Medical Center and was then placed in the Hennepin County Government Center Gallery in September, 2011.
The exhibit had been researched and developed by Hennepin Medical History Center volunteers using history center resources. Medical statistics were gathered, a diary-style storyline was created to run the length of the exhibit and objects were chosen for display.
Special posters were created and an article written in the HCMC newsletter to promote the exhibit. To measure public reaction to the display, visitors were asked to fill out a survey questionnaire. Most respondents enjoyed the easy to understand information and the array of objects and materials from the past eras.
(b) Statewide Historic and Cultural Grants. (i) $2,250,000 in 2010 and $4,500,000 in 2011 are appropriated for history programs and projects operated or conducted by or through local, county, regional or other historical or cultural organizations; or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Funds are to be distributed through a competitive grants process. The Minnesota Historical Society shall administer these funds using established grants mechanisms, and with assistance from the advisory committee created herein.
