In partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society and to commemorate the 150th anniversary, this series of short films explore important Minnesota episodes in the American Civil War. Content experts introduce each film. Episodes featured in this first showcase include the 1857 Dred Scott Decision, the outbreak of war in 1861, the Battle of Antietam (1862), the Battle of Gettysburg (1863) and Lincoln's Address that followed. Present-day efforts to commemorate this sesquicentennial period are central to each film.
