The performances were attended by the entire student population of Norman County West Elementary School in Hendrum (145), Climax-Shelly (116), and
Mahnomen (300) Elementary Schools
for a total of 561 in attendance.

 EVALUATIONS – teachers 1.  What discussions happened in your classroom after the play?

  • We discussed costumes and the songs from the play
  • Actually, none this time, although that’s the first time we haven’t had a discussion
  • The students discussed what they liked best about the play

 2.  What did you think of the performance?  What did you specifically like about the play? What did you specifically dislike about it?

  • I liked the smooth transitions from scene to scene.  The actors did a very good job with their characters.  I didn’t like the Wizard as a puppet.
  • I enjoyed the performance.  The very different roles were interesting to watch.  I didn’t really dislike anything—wait—the taped parts were a bit hard to understand, distorted.
  • Good – fast moving, clear & easy to follow
  • Wonderful!  It kept the attention of my busy K students.  Nothing

 3.  Do you think your students learned something about storytelling with these new adaptations?  And how?

  • They got to see a story come to life and experience theater, many for the 1st time.
  • Sure, that you can use singing & dancing to tell stories. 
  • Perhaps, although as I said, we did not discuss the play afterwards.  Were we supposed to receive a brochure for guidance?

 4.  If you school had a talk-back session with the performers, was it helpful? Informative? Interesting?

  • It was interesting and informative to the students.
  • Helpful – yes; informative – yes; interesting – yes, Great talk back session!
  • Good questions & answer session.
  • They loved it and had good questions.

 5.  Did your students have any feedback on the talk-back session that would be important for the actors to know? Or do you have any feedback that would help us grow as a perform company?

  • No
  • Again, sorry, but no discussion was held.  Consider a brochure that enables teachers to focus discussion.

 6.  Would you have the Children’s Studio Theatre Touring Show come back to your school in years to come?

  • 3 ~ Yes
  • Absolutely!
