Project Overview

Dibaajimowin or “storytelling” will focus on cultural knowledge, teachings and history of the north country. This will include historic knowledge of place names in Anishinaabe Akiing (the land of the original people), stories on the history of changes in the land for instance the story of creation of the Boundary Waters Canoe area, Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and other regional parks of significance. The Dibaajimowin project will bring the history of local communities to the listening area by collaborating with the area Historical Societies and schools. We will target villages and communities within the boundaries of the White Earth Indian Reservation to recruit reporters and historians in our listening area. This program will be a 5 to 10 minutes production in audio format to be aired weekly and will be accessible through broadcast and by the web.
