Tradional Ojibwe Plants: 10-minute radio segments about the Traditional Ojibwe Plants and their uses in today's world. Minnesotans will learn more about traditional Ojbwe plants herbs and teas and how they are used for better living. The content is exclusively about local naturally grown plants and herbs.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)
  • Production of 52 ten minute radio segments on the traditional Ojibwe Plants and their uses in today's world
  • The history of these plants and how that knowledge can help people make decisions on how plants can help them with their daily lives in the future
  • This program will give Ojibwe knowlege of traditional plants to Minnesotans through public broadcasting
  • More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, ages and incomes will participate in the use of plants, herbs and teas for better living
Measurable Outcome(s)

The Plants Program with Shontel Michaud is based on plants that have used in the area in the past and how they are beneficial today. This program focuses mostly on plants and herbs that can be harvested in the Leech Lake Area. How they were used in the past and how they can benefit people today. Shontel will go as far as letting the listener know preparation methods and amounts that are safe to use. This program had over a 57% positive response.
