Project Overview

Living the Ojibwe Way of Life: A look at the Ojibwe way of living in the wild off what nature provides. This 10-minute program will bring the past to the future and include stories that were passed from generation to generation of living the Ojibwe way of life. How to live and conduct one self in harmony with the nature. Taking only what is needed to live and leaving the rest for future generations. This program will explore the culture of the Ojibwe people.

  • Production of 52 ten minute radio segments on Living the Ojbiwe Way of Life
  • The increase in locally focused content produced by public radio will produce knowlege and awareness of the way that history affects people's lives and how that knowledge can help people make informed decisions for the future
  • People will trust Minnesota's stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding as this program will bring the past to the future and create better cultural understanding between peoples

The Ojibwe Way of Life with Darryl Northbird is a look into today's Ojibwe lifestyles and how it is compared to yesterday's way of life and or how the worlds still mend together today as well as differ. Darryl speaks on a wide variety of topics that can range from ricing to death and the spirit world and even how today life is different from yesterday. For example how most young ojibwe men cannot start a fire from nothing but can operate a computer without hesitation or how cell phones have impacted our everyday lives and how life was before them. 64% of respondents like or consider The Ojibwe way a Life a favorite program.
