Project Overview
This project will enhance three ecological systems; a patchwork of restored prairie, oak woodlands and oak savanna. Woody exotics and woody invasive natives - removed. Spot applications - control new exotic seedlings. Volunteers will gather and plant acorns, grasses and forbs
Janet Johnson Memorial WMA 270 of the total 550 acres. Improved biodiversity will provide a better ground cover to minimize erosion. Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) has recently completed approximately 240 acre wetland restoration. This enhancement project will fit in perfectly with BWSR and DNR goals of this restoration.
