AMPERS-Ampers Multicultural Community Pow Wow (Bemigigamaag Pow Wow)
This event will take place in the spring of 2016 in North Central Minnesota and will celebrate Ojibwe culture and heritage. In Fiscal Year 2015 KAXE & KOJB utilized funds from an Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund competitive grant to create this Pow Wow that took place at the Sanford Center in Bemidji and attracted more than 3,500 people. AMPERS will now be responsible for this event which will welcome Native as well as non-Native to attend. The Pow Wow will help everyone in attendance to gain a better understanding of the Ojibwe culture, customs, and history.
$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities, and income will have access to this cultural and educational event Ampers will provide an estimate of the number of people who attended the event Ampers will provide an estimate of the number of people who participated in the event Ampers will be able to report on the number of Native American Tribes that participated in the event
