Project Overview

Developed to provide showcase opportunities for local artist that will provide them exposure to the overall community. These events will provide a chance for the artist to perform live to a diverse audience and receive valuable feedback from industry professionals. KMOJ will also utilize several community events that take place each year to execute this project. These events will include: The 5th Annual Soul Bowl, The KMOJ 9th Annual Voyage “Trip Down the Mississippi” Boat Ride, The Juneteenth Celebration, The Rondo Days Celebration, WBC Arts Crawl/FLOW, The Minneapolis Urban League Family Day, 2nd Annual KMOJ Unity Day, The 3rd Annual KMOJ Car and Bike Showcase, The Lowery Open Streets event and the 9th Annual Celebrating the Sistas Recognition and Awards Celebration.

Appropriation Language

$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.

Increased exposure of local musical artist to the greater community. Attendance totals, artist participation in pre-event interviews/promotions with KMOJ and local media. Radio and social media exposure for each Artist that will support their efforts to enhance their careers.
