Project Overview

This project will bring art and culture into rural communities in our listening region. We will host of series of both art vendors and musicians at local venues in Callaway, Waubun, Detroit Lakes, Mahnomen, Frazee, Park Rapids and Lake Park. This will be an oportunity for artists to share their talents and stories in our community. We will live broadcast from each of the events and will record to archive and re air at a later date. There will be 12 programs produced.

$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Arts, culture and history will be interwoven into every facet of community life through the Niijii's Minnesota Mixdown Series. This project will increase awareness and produce a positive proclivity of Minnesota's stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding by bringing, art, culture and history together in one venue. Niijii's Minnesota Mixdown Series will be in family friendly venues, welcoming young, old, students, and professionals, to come together to support local artists. The series will increase exposure of local artists throughout the region. With the increased exposure, the artist will increase their ability to earn income from their art.
