KKWE - New Artists on Air
Area youth ages 15-26 and beginning artists will be given the opportunity to showcase their music and literary art through a monthly 15-20 minute program aired on KKWE Niijii Radio. The program will consist of an autobiography shared by the artist followed by the artists’ literary or musical art. The program will be recorded live, edited and produced for distribution in the KKWE studio. This will be a monthly program with 18 shows produced over the course of the grant.
$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
Arts will be interwoven into every facet of community life through the public broadcast and the recorded audio formats available to other public radio stations of KKWE's New Artists on Air program.?This project will make it possible for new artists, who lack significant financial support to be showcased on the radio. Artists regardless of age, ethnicity, income and ability will have the opportunity to be included in this programming. By engaging a younger demographic, this project helps ensure that the arts, culture and history will thrive in Minnesota.?Through increased exposure the featured new artists will be able to gain opportunities to perform in other venues for income.?New artists will have the opportunity to have their work showcased through public broadcasting.?KKWE will provide an estimated number of listeners reached through radio broadcasts, estimated number of people reached through the internet and social media, as well as the number of stations that aired the program.
