Project Overview

Event 1: Turtle River Day (August 22, 2015 and August 2016): Co-produce an all-day Minnesota music and history event with the Town of Turtle River, including children’s music. Produce and share a “best of” program.
Event 2: Record Store Day II (April 16, 2016 and April 2017): A celebration of the history of vinyl records. 10 hours of special programming throughout the week, leaning heavily on the station’s vinyl collection, a free afternoon concert/celebration with live MN music and DJs playing vinyl records.
Event 3: MN Music Jam (Dates TBA): A free concert by a Minnesota artist or band plus an opening act from Minnesota. The concert will be recorded and rebroadcast.

Appropriation Language

$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.

Survey results will show most respondents agree with these statements: "Has the Live Event Series woven art, culture and history more strongly into your life?" "Does the Live Event Series help arts, culture and history thrive in MN?" Track reach of FB posts and links related to the Live Event Series. Count number of people who attend each event in this series. Estimate the broadcast audience for broadcasts. Subject and participant comparison to census data: Compare demographics of the performers to census data to be sure the stage shows are inclusive. Estimate the demographic make-up of the audiences Artist and audience feedback: collect notes, articles and email with special attention to feedback from artists about the impact of the events on their art, and from audiences about their experience of the events.
