Project Overview
Rhonda Lund lead a beginner session on classic Chinese ink brush calligraphy teaching the basics of calligraphy and interesting facts about the history of Chinese calligraphy at the Aitkin Public Library. She also spent 5 days at Rippleside Elementary School teaching the kids about Chinese culture and mask-making. They heard stories about Monkey King, a superhero from the Ming dynasty, and viewed authentic masks from China. Then they created an original Monkey King story and masks to accompany the story. Several of the masks created by the students were on display at the Aitkin Public Library.
