Project Overview
The Meet the Author Tour II included two visits by Minnesota Authors to each of our 14 branch libraries for a total of 28 visits. A total of 20 different authors made presentations. Several also did programs at local schools as well.
Project Details
A total of 1695 students and adults attended the author events. (sample outcomes from various author presentations) Chris Monroe: “She handled the excitement of the children very well. She did a great job of keeping the kids interested in what she was doing.” -- “Very fortunate for children to actually meet the authors of the books they enjoy!” -- 100% of the kids surveyed said they liked he program while 73.2% said they would like to become an illustrator and 52.6% said they would like to become an author. / Jess Lourey: “I was surprised that she talked about the writing process. I was thinking she would just talk about her current book coming out.” -- :Fun - enjoyable. I've tried about 3 times to hear her and always encountered a conflict. It was well worth the wait” -- “I love Minnesota authors!” / John Reimringer: “Looking forward to your next book. Your writing takes you into the scene. A character series would be great.” -- “Keep up the excellent quality of writers like this.” / Peg Meier: “I was very pleased to meet an author whose books I've enjoyed.” -- “Very interesting author. Very interesting presentation.” / Erin Hart: “The PowerPoint provided great pictures which were the settings for her books. Help organize presentations, too.” -- “I am truly amazed at the depth of this author” / William Swanson: “It was excellent!” -- “Very interesting. I will read the books. Good humor too.” -- “It was great. I wished more people would give these visits a chance.” -- “Great story / Rae Katherine Eighmey: “Great job and so enjoyable! These presenters engage the audience so wonderfully. Great “Personalities and who would think there would be such interesting history to combine with food?” -- “Great! Brought back lots of memories” -- “Great combination of history and food.” -- “Very good. Looking forward to trying some recipes” -- “It was surprisingly interesting and enjoyable”
