Project Overview
This program was held at the Wyanett Town Hall between Cambridge and Princeton, MN. on Monday, November 19, 2012. The program featured a folk dancer from Sweden, Leif Alpsjo, who together with dance instructor, Mary Hegge, from the Twin Cities, demonstrated Swedish styles of dancing including the polka, schottische and waltz. They also taught the polska, the national Scandinavian dance that has many regional variations. The group called Tjernblom provided the music for the event with instruments including the nyckelharpa, octave mandolin and harmonia.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)
Attendees will learn about and practice several different Scandinavian dances. They will observe the instructors and then pair up with a partner and practice the individual pieces of the dance and then perform the dance as a group. They will also learn about the different Scandinavian musical instruments including the nyckelharpa, octave mandolin and harmonia.
Measurable Outcome(s)
71% in attendance felt the program met their expectations while 77% said they would recommend the program to others. Those in attendance made the following comments about the program: I forgot how much energy and good exercise dancing is; It was unbelievably enjoyable!!!; Wonderful, instructors the best. Glad we came.
