Project Overview

This is the continuation of the Nelly Gustafson bronze sculpture program that began in 2013. The first part of the Nelly Gustafson project was reported in the 2012 Final Legacy Report. 2013 funds were used to complete the creation, installation of the piece and have an unveiling ceremony of Nelly created by sculptor, Ian Dudley, at the Chisago Lakes Area Library on Thursday, July 11, 2013.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The sculpture will provide dialog amongst its viewers, help to facilitate their understanding of the sculpture as an art form and rekindle an interest in Swedish culture and heritage in the regions. The program held by Ian Dudley at the installation ceremony will give the audience an overview of the project along with the sculpture making process.

87% felt the installation event celebrated and honored the life of Swedish pioneer and immigrant, Nelly Gustafson. 86% felt having this sculpture at the Chisago Lakes Area Library contributes to the legacy and culture of the Chisago Lakes area communities.
