KMSU - Collaboration with area Historical Societies
This project would involve using QR codes to link smart phones and other portable devices to an audio source that would describe in detail the object or environment that was a part of that county’s history. The professionally recorded pieces would be either connected to existing web pages or new ones created specifically for this purpose.
Arts, culture and history will be interwoven into every facet of community life: With Smart Phones as prolific as they are, this project will dovetail perfectly with tech-lifestyle residents of Minnesota.More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and incomes will participate in the arts, culture and history: While this project specifically targets Minnesotans with Smart Phones, any barriers to access to these devices are superseded by their ubiquity.People will trust Minnesota’s stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding: This project adds significant value to an existing portfolio of Historical places and things.Arts, culture and history will thrive in Minnesota: Making appreciation of History convenient for more Minnesotans will inspire this outcome.More locally and Minnesota focused content: All Historical places, markers and artifacts will be from/in MinnesotaMore local artists, historians, writers and other that have their work showcased through public broadcasting: There will be on-air support for this project, encouraging Minnesotans to visit the various historical places, markers and artifacts and use their Smart Phones to learn more.More knowledge and awareness of the way that history affects people’s lives and how that knowledge can help people make informed decisions for the future: The content made available through this technology will be enhanced with period-appropriate music, sound effects and accurate narration, giving life to these places and artifacts.How outcomes will be measured: -Number of people who participate in the program - Internet and Social media statistics.
