Project Overview

This project continues from the previous funding cycle. The program’s host and producer, Nino Perez, is a 25-year veteran of radio broadcasting in the region and is uniquely connected to the greater Mankato area Latino community. Mr. Perez produces a five minute weekly segment that informs listeners of upcoming Latino dances and cultural events like Quincineras and Latino festivals. He also includes the accomplishments of the area’s young Latinos/Latinas, such as making the Dean’s List or outstanding athletic achievements. Mr. Perez occasionally includes an historical segment on a popular Latino or Tex-Mex band.

Arts, culture and history will be interwoven into every facet of community life: The Latino community is significant in Southern Minnesota, and this program directly reaches this audience.More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and incomes will participate in the arts, culture and history: Providing this content to an underserved community greatly enhances appreciation and knowledge of the Arts and Culture in the area.People will trust Minnesota’s stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding. This contract position requires ten hours per week of research and production.  Arts, culture and history will thrive in Minnesota. The Hispanic culture is celebrated through this    program, thereby encouraging more Latinos to participate in that culture.More locally and Minnesota focused content. Virtually all of the program items are relevant to Minnesota communitiesHow outcomes will be measured: - Arbitron/Radio Research Consortium ratings information -Internet and social media statistics

  • This person devoted approximately ten hours per week to compile, write and produce a five to seven-minute weekly vignette covering all regional Latino Arts and Cultural events, including community dances, Quinceineras, concerts and art exhibits, and more
