Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees will report an enhanced Fair experience through interactions with authors, hands-on art, performers, etc.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Through this event we reached approximately 1800 state fairgoers with a variety of arts formats brought to them by the public library at the MN state fair. We hosted seven live performances on stage from musicians to magicians and yoyo masters. Kids were able to create their own puzzles, build Lego™ wonders and play in the kinetic sand. All ages participated in the Read & Walk which featured the book, Red by Minnesota author/illustrator Michael Hall, on large signs that ran throughout the park. Rain Taxi, Minnesota’s premier literary magazine joined us and brought in authors, artists and poets to connect with fairgoers. The Sisters in Crime writing group brought in 15 authors throughout the day to talk books. Very young children were happy to win a copy of the picture book Moo, by Minnesota author David la Rochelle and Minnesota illustrator Mike Wohnoutka, for completing an obstacle course. Fairgoers were engaged in the activities throughout the day, many staying to experience it all and even repeated some activities (three trips though the obstacle course was the average).
