Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Eight History Day Hullabaloo field trips to metro-area public and academic libraries will be held, stipends provided for student field trips to Hullaballos and History Day open houses, strengthened network between library staff, History Day MHS staff and History Day teachers, in-service training for library staff to best support student researchers. Surveys conducted with teachers, parents and students regarding library visits. Photos of all events will be provided. Improved cooperative planning, promotion, assessment and reporting.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Legacy funds supported eight History Day Hullabaloo field trips, as well as research field trips that brought students and teachers to public and academic libraries to support their History Day research. Students received support researching various historical topics. Surveys indicated that the majority of students felt that discovering a new place to do research was the most helpful part of their visit and that the experience improved their ability to do research. A majority of teachers reported that their lowest performing students were more engaged in the library experience than in the classroom.
