The Library will offer Pride-themed storytimes, two programs for adults: Telling Queer History and Queer Voices; and promote Hennepin County Library literary programs and books at a booth at the Pride Festival Twin Cities.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

For Telling Queer History: Patrons will experience a high quality program, learn something new about the history of the LGBTQA community in the Twin Cities, have the opportunity to share their own stories, and meet other members of the community. For Queer Voices: Patrons will experience a high-quality program, enjoy poetry and literature readings, and check out related library materials. For Pride Storytimes: Patrons will hear stories about a diversity of families and/or identities, LGBTQA patrons will feel welcome at the libraries, patrons will express a desire to recommend attendance at a Pride storytime to someone else. For Pride Festival Twin Cities: the community will learn about library resources and events, be made to feel welcome at libraries, and sign up for library cards.

Measurable Outcome(s)

For Telling Queer History: 85% learned something new about the history of the GLBTQ community in the Twin Cities. 40% had the opportunity to share their own story.
95% met someone new at the event. 100% rated the quality of the program as good or better. Selected comments:
“Thank you for funding this. It is so vital.” “It is important to share our stories.”
For Queer Voices Reading:100% enjoyed the poetry and literature they heard at the event. 97% felt welcome at the library when I saw Queer Voices being offered. 52% were inspired to checkout related library materials. 47% met someone new at the event. 100% rated the quality of the program as good or better. Selected comments: “Fun event--inspiring."
For Pride Storytimes: 100% felt the stories reflected a diversity of families and/or identities. 100% felt welcome at the library when they saw Pride Storytime being offered.
100% would recommend a Pride Storytime to someone else.

For the Pride Booth
70 library cards were issues at the festival. Selected comments from booth visitors: “I love the library!! Seriously you guys are awesome!!!! Viva la biblioteca!!” “The library is my sanctuary.” “Always happy to see you guys here [at Pride]!” “I’m a big supporter of the library. Thanks for all you do!” “I owe $20 in fines right now, but I don’t mind paying them because I love to give to my library!” “Having fun isn’t hard if you have a library card!” “One of the best services in the Twin Cities.”
