Project Overview
Anoka County Historical Society will present lectures on various topics related to the history of Anoka County. Programs will include: Ghost Stories of Anoka, Safe for Democracy, Civil War Christmas, Logger's Life, History of Anoka County's Sheriff's Office, History of the State Hospital in Anoka, Hilltop and Columbia Heights History and In Memoriam.

Attendees will learn about the rich history of Anoka County through photographs, stories and artifacts. Participants will be inspired to relate historical events to their own experiences and gain a fuller appreciation for their community.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants learned about the history of Anoka County through a variety of themes and topics. Regularly attendees brought in their own photos or artifacts related to the topics and engaged in conversation after the lecture with other members of the community. Many recounted personal stories related to the historical topic described to library and historical society staff.
