Project Overview
The Library partnered with 11 Washington County middle schools and high schools on the annual Book Ballots program to celebrate Teen Read Month. Every October Washington County Library celebrates Teen Read Month with our annual Book Ballots program for teens. During the month of October teens voted for their favorite books in 5 different categories. In 2015 teens had the option of voting at their participating school. Every participating school received a copy of each of the winning Book Ballot titles.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

We had 266 teens participate in Book Ballots this year (a 618% increase from 2014) by submitting either paper ballots (34 entries), voting online (7entries), or voting at their participating school (225 entries). Due to the partnership with the schools we were able to increase system wide participation by 618% this year! School votes accounted for 85% of the total votes and teen participation. Schools that elected to participate embraced the opportunity to participate and were very grateful for the books, particularly during times of no to little school library collection budgets.
