Project Overview
Rum River Arts will present five different hands-on arts programs: Polymer Clay Pokémon character - Students will be create a Pokémon character out of polymer clay. Drawing Dragons – Students will create drawings (using pen and pencil on vellum paper) based on the dragons from Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Van Gogh Sunflower Painting- Students will use Vincent Van Gogh Sunflower Paintings as inspiration to create non-soluble acrylic painting on a canvas panel. This is a 2-part class. Sea glass Mosaic - Students will create a canvas panel painting and a mosaic frame using sea glass put together for one amazing project. This is a 2-part class. Leonardo da Vinci Flower Drawings - Students will use da Vinci’s flower drawings as inspiration and create their da Vinci flower drawings using pencil, colored pencils and coffee.

Students will learn art techniques and gain an appreciation for visual arts. Participants will be more aware of arts opportunities available in their community and of resources available through the library.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants gained understanding of various art techniques through hands-on learning experiences. Students learned about arts opportunities available through their community and resources available at the library. More than 85% of those who responded to a survey said they were inspired by the class and 75% learned something new. More than 72% of those who responded left with an idea for how to create art at home.
