Party in the Club
Attendees will enjoy a musical or cultural event as families and as a community. Kids will expand their background knowledge through books, crafts and activities based on the event's theme.
Over 500 kids and adults enjoyed the three events, all with a performer and 3-4 supporting crafts and activities. 36 of 38 completed evaluations rated the quality as 4 or 5 out 5 and comments included, “Great yoga message to calm the moving brain,” “love the family friendly atmosphere,” and “there are a variety of activities…so no matter the kid’s mood there is something for them to enjoy.” These programs also extend our reach beyond our regular library users – a third of the respondents had never been to a library program before. The City of Prior Lake partnered with the library, providing the venue, staff, and funding for one performer, plus soliciting funds from the Prior Lake Lions Club for a third performer. The youth volunteers gained valuable experience working with kids.
