Project Overview
A century after the beginning of World War I, the legacy of this catastrophic conflict still shapes modern events from the Middle East to the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Speaker Janet Woolman will talk about the underlying causes of the war and the fighting on many fronts. She’ll also explain what the war meant for Minnesota. Find out why Charles Lindbergh’s father was accused of sedition after the outbreak of hostilities, and why the entire elected government of New Ulm was removed from office. Special guest Lee Engele will provide a musical prelude of the songs of World War I.
