Meet Arthur Fillebrown & Research in Land Records
Increased recognition of the rich historical traditions of Minnesota. Heightened visibility for the library as a cultural center.
Recent research has uncovered the story of Arthur Fillebrown, the quieter of the two siblings who donated their lake side cottage to the White Bear Lake Area Historical Society in the 1970s. Patrons joined a local historian to hear his story illustrated through family photos and clippings. Certified Genealogist Tom Rice looks at the genealogical value of land records, where to find them, what they mean, the history behind them and how to get full value from them. Topics covered included an overview of different types of land transactions and deeds; how to understand legal descriptions; and how to plat the land. (3/16 - 18 people)(3/28 - 28 people)
