Project Overview
1. The White Bear area was a haven for the 1920s and ‘30s era gangsters who wanted to get away from it all. Join us to learn some gangster lingo while you hear the tales of infamous visitors such as Ma Barker, Alvin “Creepy” Karpis and Baby Face Nelson. 2. Take a journey through the evolution of rail transportation in our community and learn the importance of White Bear Lake to the railroads.

Patrons were engaged with learning that the White Bear area was a haven for the 1920s and ‘30s era gangsters who wanted to get away from it all. They learned some gangster lingo while hearing the tales of infamous visitors such as Ma Barker, Alvin “Creepy” Karpis and Baby Face Nelson. They were also invited to take a journey through the evolution of rail transportation in their community and learned the importance of White Bear Lake to the railroads.
