Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

• learn something about Allen Eskens as a writer.
• learn something about Allen Eskens’ writing process.
• learn something about the setting, plot, and characters in “The Life We Bury.”
• share a positive review of this program with others.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Results of the evaluations are included in this report. This program was a great success. All survey respondents indicated they learned something about Allen Eskens as a writer as well as something about his writing process. All respondents indicated they learned something about the setting, plot, and characters in “The Life We Bury,” and all stated they would share a positive review of the program.
The library hosted the event in our newly designed second-floor meeting area because we expected up to 20 people. However, 33 people attended, which meant we continued to add chairs until the program began. The
intimate space was wonderful for an author visit, and we plan to use it again.

Audience members lined up after the program and waited up to 15 minutes to speak with and have books signed
by Eskens. This type of response is unusual at our library. I continued to receive positive feedback for several
days after the event.

Anecdotal responses included: “Really liked his explanation of his journey.” and “Very good – I will come
again.”
