Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Written surveys were distributed to all attendees. It was expected that a majority of respondents would indicate they learned something about Mathew Brady, gained an understanding of Civil War era photographic techniques and were interested in learning more about Mathew Brady and/or Civil War era photography. Library staff would observe a majority of attendees actively engaged in the program by listening quietly and asking questions. Anecdotal responses from attendees would confirm their enjoyment of the program.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Of those who responded (91% return rate), 100% indicated they learned something about Mathew Brady, and 100% indicated they gained an understanding of Civil War era photographic techniques. 86% of respondents indicated they were interested in learning more about Mathew Brady and/or Civil War era photography. Librarian observed audience members quietly watching the slideshow and listening to Blanshan's presentation. Several asked questions after the formal presentation. All clapped after the program, and several people stayed after the program to speak with Blanshan. Anecdotal responses included: "Excellent presentation!" "Great photos, engaging speaker." and "Very interesting." Blanshan has spoken at the library a number of times, and his programs always are well received. This Mathew Brady program was no exception.
