Project Overview
Minnesota author Wendy Webb spoke about her gothic novel The Vanishing as part of our Community Reads program. The Vanishing is a ghost story set in a centuries-old estate in the middle of the wilderness near Lake Superior. Our Community Reads event provided an opportunity for the readers of the Montgomery area to have a shared literary experience with the community reading the same book at the same time. Webb was unable to attend the originally scheduled appearance due to illness so the event was held as a book discussion and Webb attended an author event later. Webb’s appearance allowed readers the opportunity to discuss the author’s work as a whole. Due to the rescheduled appearance, our advertising budget was increased by $100 from the original grant so that we could advertise the rescheduled event.
